My (21 F) and my boyfriend’s (26 M) sex life is a disappointment. How to change?

The last half a year we have had sex for about 4 times or so. Of course in the start it was way different, and I understand the fact that after the “honeymoon phase” couples move onto a more every day kinda life, but the change in our sex life is like night and day compared to the past. I feel undesirable and just not enough. We have talked about the issue several times. He says the problem isn’t that he has lost interest in me. Nowadays I don’t feel comfortable enough to initiate sex because rejection gets old at some point. Do you guys have any tips how to overcome this or are we doomed?

TL;DR: Boyfriend doesn’t want to have sex. How to improve the situation?

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
