/u/babygyrl09 on Getting pretty sick of the "reformed ace" trope.

I never said it was bad writing. I just was excited to see representation and a character I related to in that was, and honestly, I kind of felt betrayed. So I couldn't finish the book because of that. May 14, 2021 at 12:02AM

/u/assistant_truck_chan on let’s all bow down to our *most likely* ace/aro king...SAIKI K ———————————————-it’s a head cannon, BUT i still felt so happy seeing a character with so many traits i related to. no “fixing the ace” trope, no ace-phobic micro aggressions, and most importantly, CAKE!

Saiki is an aroace KINGGGG (I also fully accept him as demi bc my demi frenz need representation too) May 14, 2021 at 12:01AM

I found out I was Ace when I was 22. I'm turning 30 next month. There is a serious lack of awareness that Aspec people and I am glad there's more widespread awareness than ever before. Don't you worry about feeling alone! We are here for ya! 💚 May 14, 2021 at 12:01AM

Thank you. That helped a lot May 13, 2021 at 11:56PM

/u/charshmit on Asexual adults?

Exactly! Similar thing happened to me when they told me I’m (very mildly) bi-polar and it helped me understand my random mood swings and I didn’t feel so bad all the time for feeling the way I do. There’s a reason behind everything!! May 13, 2021 at 11:55PM

/u/potentialsmbc2023 on [Content Warning: NSFW] I hate myself for getting aroused

I say this with zero hate or malice intended: therapy. Might help you deal with some of that self-loathing. May 13, 2021 at 11:53PM

right! it’s why this show took me by surprise. i think we all just want to vibe with saiki and eat coffee jelly :) May 13, 2021 at 11:51PM

/u/Beautiful_Text_3211 on Never been romantically and sexually attracted to the same person.

I looked it up and not quite. I've been in multiple long term relationships where the only thing really there was sex. :-/ May 13, 2021 at 11:48PM

/u/divine-dolphin-baby on How do you feel about songs that mentions or implies about sex?

It depends. Some lyrics make me too uncomfortable, others are subtle or poetic enough for me to give them another meaning and some are fine May 13, 2021 at 11:46PM

/u/potentialsmbc2023 on Never been romantically and sexually attracted to the same person.

Fraysexual maybe? May 13, 2021 at 11:46PM

/u/potentialsmbc2023 on What misconceptions did you used to have towards allosexuals?

When I thought I was an allosexual, I couldn't figure out what the big deal about sex was. I mean, sure, it feels good, but it doesn't feel any different to me than masturbation (in fact I'm often able to do the job better). May 13, 2021 at 11:45PM

/u/crystalribcage on Calling nonhuman characters ace-coded perpetuates the idea that aces are "robotic" or otherwise against human nature

well i kind of love the idea that Spongebob is ace. he has a lot of personality, lots of love to give, and is a really freaking awesome character. he’s far from robotic and i honestly love the idea of Spongebob being in the ace community. i feel like he’s very human in every way except for his species lol. he’s basically a human if you ask me. i actually never knew sponge bob was ace so i’m kind of really happy now May 13, 2021 at 11:44PM

/u/romanator25 on Great... now I'm even more confused 😑

You could be gray sexual or somewhere under that spectrum. I wouldn’t have this test be your full determiner either, it’s all about if you feel sexual attraction or not, I’ve never seen that happen in that test before though. May 13, 2021 at 11:44PM

/u/solinfant on Getting pretty sick of the "reformed ace" trope.

There really should be more stories where a character crushes on someone who is aromantic and/or asexual and quickly learns to accept them for who they are. I've actually been thinking about writing a story like this for a while. May 13, 2021 at 11:43PM

Thats what i like about saiki, in most school anime when theres a guy the mc at least ones it is mentioned how he finds a girl hot or whatever the fuck. But saiki, hes too busy with his coffee jelly.. And i respect that May 13, 2021 at 11:37PM

That’s okay!! Do not ever feel pressured to explain yourself or come out to people if you’re not ready or not comfortable. It’s totally okay! I’m glad you found this thread. I am too. If you do ever need to talk, feel free to reach out May 13, 2021 at 11:35PM

Yes! It’s like having my adhd diagnosis I got the other day. It’s a simple thing that really makes me not hate myself for just being who I am. Unashamed ya know? May 13, 2021 at 11:33PM

/u/endlessxaura on So I got a question for y'all asexual

I've had a similar problem before, for different reason, and I still identify as asexual. You can get addicted, even if you're not attracted to the object, because your brain still produced the chemical responses to the stimuli. It doesn't matter whether or not you like it or even want it. Many drug addicts describe hating the actual sensation of it, but desparately desiring and needing it. Some ace people still have sex and watch porn for exactly that reason, actually. Regardless of whether or not you experience the attraction, it can physically and chemically feel good. Some ace people describe watching porn as watching a good cooking show, where it makes you hungry and want to eat even if you're not actually interested in the cooking itself. As for sex, there's a billion reasons why people have sex, and many of those don't require sexual attraction. May 13, 2021 at 11:33PM

/u/remusoribu on Asexual adults?

I’m 24(F) and I’m the only ace person I know, I found about it when I was 20/21 years old. I’d love to know more people and talk about our experience but I live in a small city, that’s why I entered this subreddit. People I know don’t really know about asexuality and I don’t feel comfortable coming out to them May 13, 2021 at 11:32PM
