/u/livipup on I thought it got better with age, but I'm almost 24 and it's not.

Maybe it might be worth unfriend or unfollowing people who don't post content you like. There's no real need to have everybody you know on social media, right? July 25, 2021 at 12:00AM

/u/bernie_the_hammy on Hello pansexual here wanting to know do asexuals still date?

Try to date and fail because I've never had a real relationship before and don't know how to function in one and think that if I was actually attracted to someone (literally any kind of attraction, I'm not picky at this point) then I might be able to actually connect with someone on some basis other than we both like zelda and the color purple* July 24, 2021 at 11:50PM

/u/supermassivenova on Is there a name for my strange experience with sexuality?

asexuals can have sexual desire (desire to have sex or sexual release i.e partnered sex or masturbating) asexuality is about not feeling sexual attraction (or feeling it very rarely or under specific circumstances, essentially anyone who doesnt feel allosexual aka nonasexual). it is actually common for aces (even sex repulsed or averse aces) to not want partnered sex but prefer to take care their needs on their own i would check out this page on aven: https://www.asexuality.org/?q=attitudes.html and check out their faq’s (even the ones for friends and family and partners, they are all pretty helpful and informative!) some other info: -demisexuality is a label under the ace umbrella where a person is essentially asexual until they form a close bond, then they can feel sexual attraction but only towards said person they have formed a bond with -greyasexual is the general term for people who feel inbetween asexual and allosexual (in the grey area) for whatever reason. usually they

You're never gonna get laid if you keep playing minecraft all day Wait July 24, 2021 at 11:40PM

/u/plant-mass on Anybody else confused if their asexuality might just be a consequence of depression/body dysmorphia?

I'm always thinking something similar. If I didn't see myself as horrid in every way it would probably be a lot different. July 24, 2021 at 11:39PM

/u/Focosa88 on Damn this sub can be a downer

I agree. I totally understand why people do it, and I wouldn't want them to stop, because it's crucial to vent sometimes. But it's a little hard on the mood to see so much aphobic experiences and stuff like that. It's mostly what I see on my feed and it can be heavy to handle July 24, 2021 at 11:39PM

/u/ninkiiiiminjaaj on AO3 fanfics where the main character is asexual

okay I don't know if you're into Harry Potter at all?? but there's a Drarry fanfic that I recently read where Draco is asexual and he pretty much comes to terms with it. it's called Rugby Boys n its by Swoops :)) July 24, 2021 at 11:37PM

/u/JennyLvl1 on Considering I may be asexual but with no one irl to talk to, I thought I'd maybe share my story to see if others relate

Third paragraph downwards I can definitely relate. Your description of sex sounds very familiar! To me sex is just a chore, to be honest I’d rather go do actual chores, then at least I’m doing something productive! I would describe the way I am as Bi-romantic Asexual. No sexual attraction whatsoever (paired with zero desire to have sex). However I definitely feel romantic and aesthetic attraction to both men and women and could see myself in a relationship with either, kissing/cuddling is all I want for intimacy. Maybe you’re the same? My body works fine, but I think for me theres such a huge disconnect mentally (ie so blatantly uninterested) that I just struggle to engage, and if I’m not into it, then no wonder it all feels so… meh. I know I’m asexual, but I don’t necessarily think that’s the reason I don’t enjoy sex. For me I think it’s partly lack of sex drive but also find the whole thing a bit dodge so there’s probably some repulsion or messed up views in there somewhere. You

/u/Salt-Seaworthiness91 on Damn this sub can be a downer

Like, what kind of downer stuff? I feel like there’s downer stuff in all subs. People have sad lives, it’s not something you can really escape from. And I think a lot of people who come to this sub are looking for answers because they’re confused about something. July 24, 2021 at 11:32PM

/u/AutisticPotato724 on Asexual because of abuse

You are valid and I hope you are doing better now July 24, 2021 at 11:32PM

/u/JimakuNoNadare on I just realised my first RPG character was a member of an asexual lizard species who would only have sex in order to procreate and I feel like that should have been a sign.

Oh my gosh no joke, I wrote a series of 6 fantasy novels over six years with a friend and the only non-human species was an asexual snake species that would only have sex when it was time to procreate. I’d never thought about it but you’re right July 24, 2021 at 11:31PM

/u/supermassivenova on Ditched for being ace

yuppp! some people seem to think queer is a synonym for gay or lgbt, but they best read up on their queer history and queer theory because it is so much more than that. it is a liberation movement and a way of analyzing society, and breaking down social norms around sexuality, gender, and relationships July 24, 2021 at 11:26PM

/u/EmbersOfTheFlame on Hello pansexual here wanting to know do asexuals still date?

Yeah definitely I’m demiromantic and I still enjoying dating July 24, 2021 at 11:25PM

I just turned 17 my dad never really got it until recently, I've identified as Ace for the past 3 years, he said something about cute girls and when I showed no interest he realized that I have no interest in cute girls. I was lucky enough to have supportive parents July 24, 2021 at 11:24PM

/u/inconvenient-sleuth on Ditched for being ace

I’m well aware people don’t owe me their immediate attention. That doesn’t mean we have to be delusional. People have patterns. When a person is consistent and then, not…it’s usually for a reason. Just as People don’t owe me a quick response, I don’t owe anybody my time waiting around for more information about something they asked me to go to. A day is a very reasonable amount of time to expect a reply to a text message. It’s really unnecessary to come at me trying to idk, teach me a lesson? I expect common decency from people and you’re telling me I don’t deserve that. ITS NOT ASKING A LOT TO GET A RESPONSE IN ONE DAY. In two to three days, it will be two days after we were supposed to meet, with no information on where and when to meet. That’s blowing somebody off. Don’t be a dick. You could have just idk, not commented? How is this helpful? Do you feel better about not responding to people yourself now? July 24, 2021 at 11:23PM

I play on an Ace minecraft server and my base (and pretty much everyone elses) is covered in ace flags July 24, 2021 at 11:21PM

/u/AMarmaladeSandwich on Does anyone else kinda hate the association between being ace and food? TW ED

I wouldn't say you're weird, you've just got a very different relationship with food than someone like me does. To me, cake is very welcoming and a happy thing, but it's all subjective. July 24, 2021 at 11:16PM

I never understood why it has to be advertised on a shirt or by a ring If it helps any, the reason I do it is because no one was there to be that person for me. By being visibly out, I turn myself into a living resource, one that if I'd had when I was younger, would have saved me a lot of pain. I didn't grow up knowing anyone like me, never knew being ace was an option. Hell, in the past, I've had to explain to entire LGBT+ societys what asexuality even was, that'show invisible it's been and in many ways still is. They only asked because I had my flag badge. I pass on what I know, and they could use that knowledge to help others. Makes it worth it to me. You're under no onus to do the same, I'm not a private person so I don't find it embarrassing to be open about it. It's less about other people knowing who I don't bone, and more about giving people knowledge that there's options, you know? July 24, 2021 at 11:09PM
