My grandmother was 16 when she married my grandfather (due to a pregnancy she miscarried), dropped out of school, and had my mom at 18 and my uncle at 20. She’s always excited to hear how my girlfriend got an education (two B.S. and a Ph.D in engineering) and has a career as a college educator, and how we’re enjoying ourselves as much as we can instead of having kids.
