It's just that these exclusionist subreddits keep getting banned from Reddit for "violating rule 1" and "ban evasion", and so are some users running them, who just keep recreating these subreddits with new accounts. Your brain is still maturing into your mid 20s, but a lot of that is more decision making. If the terminology for asexuality would have been around when I was 16, I definitely could have identified as ace earlier than that. As you get older, you'll better be able to recognize what you actually want for yourself, versus what you think you want due to societal pressures. I do believe this is a case for sure. My parents were so strict where in my head I thought sex was so bad and every time I did it I felt so bad and worthless. I never enjoyed it. Todd from Bojack Horseman! He's a fantastic example of ace representation since they don't play into stereotypes with his character, and there's soooo much more to him than just the fact that he's ace. You also really get to know him as a character (for at least a season, I think) before you even come to know that he's ace. Overall, very accurate portrayal of what an ace person might look/act like.
