/u/preciousillusion on Early sign I was ace: getting deeply offended and sad when I learned in high school that a “40 year-old virgin” was the butt of an entire movie-joke

I was offended by that as well. Now that I’m over forty, it bothers me less. A little less. June 08, 2022 at 11:54PM

How do you date?

I'm sorry if this sounds dumb, but how do you do it. Fir example on dating apps, do you just swipe on someone you find attractive and hope for the best or just swipe on everyone. I think what I mean to say is, is it ok to try going out with someone even though you are not attracted to them? Finally, instead of dating apps, what are other ways to meet potential partners this summer? Submitted June 09, 2022 at 12:13AM I'm sorry if this sounds dumb, but how do you do it. /u/Jasmin_Ki on I’m not sure but the word feels “right.” Thoughts?

Action =/= Attraction. No matter what that action sex, be it having sex, watching porn, masturbating or having kinks. In my opinion you really have no need to feel bad about calling yourself ace. June 08, 2022 at 11:22PM

/u/lunelily on I seen a random video about asexuality and holy smokes it all makes sense now. Am I asexual?

Sounds like the Split Attraction Model applies to you! You experience other forms of attraction that society usually lumps in with sexual—such as romantic, emotional, and sensual—but just not sexual :) I would check out AVEN’s FAQ at www.asexuality.org and see what applies to you! And feel free to hang out here and check out other aces’ experiences and see if this community is your home. From what you’ve said in this post, it sure sounds like it. So if so: welcome 🍰!! Glad you made it here, fellow ace! June 08, 2022 at 11:22PM

You can be ace and still enjoy sex. You can be physically aroused without feeling sexual attraction - which is attraction to a specific person (as opposed to just feeling “horny”). Sounds ace to me, microlabels can be helpful to understand and find people with similar experiences but isn’t always necessary for people. June 08, 2022 at 11:21PM

/u/melluxi on Do you experience ‘the ick’ even if you’re asexual?

To me “the ick” is applicable to any kind of attraction (sensual, platonic, romantic…), but I guess the mainstream mostly uses the term in reference to sexual attraction. June 08, 2022 at 11:20PM
