I have similar experiences. There is definitely nothing wrong with you. I have usually strong emotions towards a person, especially if I admire them. I figured out, that I usually just wanted a friendship and I misinterprated this for romantic feelings. However, to determine, if you are on the asexual spectrum, you'd have to figure out, if you feel sexual attraction towards people, thats all, what it is about (Which doesn't mean, that is an easy thing to do...). There isnt a set number but, greyasexuals experience sexual attraction less often and less intensely. It will vary from person to person tho. I think there is really no "right way" of coming out. It really depends on your relation with those people. I personally have never had the situation, that the people treat me differently after coming out, but they were more or less believing. I became upfront about it and just mentioned it , if the topic allowed it they either askedfor details or what it was or just left it.
