so I (21F) matched w this guy (22M) while I was in NYC a few weeks ago, we had a lot of niche similarities which was cool (both from the same part of Maryland, favorite movies + tv shows, same taste in music and even the same favorite songs from those artists) and humor wise we just seemed like we would click. so he adds me on Spotify, Snapchat, Letterboxd, AND we exchanged numbers and we’re texting and said we would meet up in NYC. So the day comes we’re supposed to meet up and he doesn’t text me all day, I hit him with a “hey just checking in are we still on for tonight?” He responds like an hour later saying that he’s sorry it’s actually a bad weekend for him bc it was his last weekend in NYC before going back home to Maryland. I’m like okay cool no worries we can hangout when you get back! Fast forward to like 2 weeks later, I was just randomly scrolling through my matches and saw his profile and just decided to click on it and saw that he was now only like 20 miles away from me

he probably thinks asexuality is low libido or traumatic relationship to sex or something. It's definitely not a medical condition. I've had many tests like hormones and stuff and everything is entirely normal. I just don't feel sexual attraction and I never have and I don't care 🤷🏻 also no offense but grad students in psychology aren't experts on sexuality and that grad student friend would most likely tell that guy exactly that. I feel like a lack of a label and having a label are equally distressing and calming to me in different ways. Generally when I try to label myself it's for myself though. It's like having a label makes something feel more official, which creates more specific emotional responses to it while not having a label causes vague discomfort about a broader range of things.
