I’ve been listening to the podcast A-OK (thanks to a suggestion from someone else in this sub!) and one of the guests was talking about how they differentiate between romantic and platonic attraction. They said with a friend they just want to spend some time with them but then go off their separate ways. With a crush/romantic partner, they never wanted to be apart from them. I can neither discredit or credit but my own opinion would be that there is probably some truth from the data of the survey. In the past, people were against gays because they didn't understand. What with pride events etc and gay people being more publicly acknowledged, people's opinion have changed for the better, and at the base of it all is sex which most people can relate to.
