Dating a close friends exh

So I’m in a situation right now and don’t know what to do. I’ve been chatting with a girl for the last week or 2, started friendly and now is asking to meet up and go on dates. I would totally be on board but this girl dated my best friend for like 4-5 years. In my mind it just doesn’t seem right. I almost feel bad for even texting her for this long.

They broke up about 2 years ago which doesn’t make it any better to me honestly. But the real curveball is, he met her through me. I hooked up with her back in high school and we hung out a little bit but I broke it off with her. She then started dating him shortly after.

I know it sounds like my minds made up but I’m really asking this question because everyone is telling me they would do differently. They always say some little detail like “awe it’s been long enough” or “he probably moved on”. How would you feel about this.

P.S. I talk to this guy like every other day and we live 3 states away now.

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
