am I doing it right?

Okay bit of context before starting: I'm a 21 y.o guy, not the best looking thus I'm not quite good at dealing with girls, I don't even have many female friends, most of them just "know" me because I hang out with their friends.

Now, like 4 days ago I was in a disco partying with my friends at a certain point of the night I see some girls (our friends) speaking to few guys of my group. I was a bit far from them and I was also talking with someone else, so I couldn't understand shit of what they were saying. Not much later a friend of mine comes, takes my arm and drags me further away while saying "you gotta meet someone", then leaves me. Suddenly this girl appears, I was a bit drunk so I don't even remember if someone brought her there or if she came near me by herself. So here I am in the middle of a disco with my friends and her friends watching me talk to this girl. I'm an introverted guy so you can imagine how shitty of a situation that was for me, but anyways I was already into it and couldn't escape so I go "Hi, my name is Alex" and she answers with her name. We start chatting a little about what we do in life and crap; she asks me few questions, I answer then I ask her back. At a certain point a friend of mine looks at me and whispers "invite her to dance", it wasn't actually a bad idea we were under our friends eyes for the whole time and going to dance would mean getting away from them so I ask her if she wants to dance but she goes "oh nah, it's too hot in there" I'm like "k fine as you wish", we keep talking a little bit more but I didn't feel like the conversation was going that good, I was kinda drunk and couldn't think much of what to say also our friends where still lookin at us, so I try to cut it there and ask her phone number, she says okay, I give her my phone and she writes her number, I say "okay good, we'll be in touch" then we both depart (even tho we weren't that far away).

The next day I text her "Hey, I'm Alex and this is my phone number" she answers "Heyy :* " then I go straight to the point and tell her "if you want later today or tomorrow we might meet up at a bar drink something and chat a bit?", she says "okay, but tomorrow would be best for me", me: "fine, what time? early afternoon, like 3/3.30PM?" her: "Gotta study so I prefer 5/5.30PM" and I'm like "yea fine for me, I'll be in touch with you, cya tomorrow" and we end the conv there. Later that night I went out with my friends and of course they asked me about the girl and how we were doing, I told them about the bar thing and they were like "you moron, why did you end the conversation right there? you had to write more, you have to make her know you are there" and I answered "wtf I don't even know her, the fuck am I goin to talk about on WhatsApp? I'd rather speak to her face to face" we argue a little bit then we end it up there. That same night her friends (without her) came to the pub we were hangin out and one of them (the one that was speaking more to my friends the night everything happened) came straight to me to greet me, she never did that, she usually goes to my other friends first and sometimes she doesn't even speak that much with me. Anyway after she greeted me she goes to my other friends and while going she says "oh and good job alex, you are a real man" (quite loudly actually, with a grin on her face).

Now, the day has come, few hours before the scheduled appointment I decide to text her, I wanted to know if she wanted me to pick her up or if she could come by herself, we also had to decide where we were going to meet up actually. Anyway I text her "Hey" and wait for an answer. After a full 30 minutes of waiting she answers "Hey Alex, sorry but I can't come today I got something unexpected to do, maybe we could do this another day?" (*insert CJ ah shit here we go again meme here*) and I answer "Yea, fine. Since I don't know your schedule maybe you let me know when we can meet up, k?" and she just answers "yes, okay". Since I believe I know how these things go I make sure to tell her that I'll be waiting for a text, she says okay. Few hours later my friends ask how it was going with this girl, I tell them what happened and they say "I told you, you went already too fast and asked her out. You also had to text her more than you did" we argued a bit and I told them I like to speak to people face to face not by messages. Then we met her friends later that night, my friends went to talk to them about what happened and her friends said that she had to study for a test she is postponing since a while.

Now, she didn't text me since last time we texted and I didn't either. I didn't text her for few reasons:

1. I think that if she really is even a lil bit interested in me (as my friends made me understand when they brought us together), she will want to meet me more so she is gonna tell me a date and time to meet up, as I told her.
2. Since day one my friends started acting a bit wierd and I'm actually starting to think that this might all be a shitty prank put up by them. I don't know this girl, never seen her in my life and it is too wierd to me that she saw me in the disco that night and told her friends "oh I like that guy" without even knowin who the hell I am. I'm not even the most attractive guy in my group, I'm probably the least.

Now I don't know how to act. I'm not sure of what is going on and the doubt of this being a shitty prank or something similar (for example my friends told me this girl likes me and her friends told her I like her and put us together to see what happens when actually no one of us ever gave a fuck about each other) becomes bigger.

What do you think and what should I do? Did I fuck anything up? Could this be just a shitty prank or something staged?
