I don't know if I like him or he likes me

It's really weird. I have liked people before, so I know the feeling. But I'm just a really mess of weird emotions whenever I'm with him. I love being with him and when he pays me attention. He also acts pretty weird with me. Yesterday was the last day of school, the day before yesterday something happened in his house, I don't know what but he was really sad all the day. He even was about to cry (I have never seen him crying) and he was ashamed of it because he was saying the reason was stupid. We walked around the school and he kept telling me he only wanted to be with me and didnt want the classes to end because we will be away from each other. Also I recently got a new hair cut and every time a person that day asked him if he liked it he answered that i couldnt be more beautiful. I'm probably overreacting right now cuz I got my period today and I'm a complete mess, physically and emotionally talking.

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
