As I (22F) was cleaning, I found a note my ex(24M) left me on his last day with me

So my ex lived with me for a few months before he moved back home to a different state. We weren’t dating anymore when he lived with me but still kinda was... we met last April and over the 8 months, we dated officially for one month, but it ended because he wanted to move back home after graduation and didn’t believe in long distance.

Well, i helped him get back home by preparing him, help him save money, etc etc. his last day here was December 18th of last year. We spent that day crying and him kinda regretting the leave but still doing it. I gave him a letter on a GoT USB and all our photos.

Well today I was cleaning out a jar with my makeup sponges and he left me a note there from 12/18 and it’s so simple but I’m crying so hard. All it said was “I love you, thank you for everything”. It just hit me hard because just yesterday I felt so used and forgotten because we haven’t talked in months despite our history. So I’ve been hurt. Last thing I needed to do was find this. I don’t know if I should message him and see how he’s doing? Last we talk was a little over a month ago. I’m just scared that he might have a girlfriend now because he deleted his Facebook and deleted me off Snapchat.

Anyone else been caught up on someone for awhile especially someone you thought was the one? Should I message him? If so, what should I say?

TL;DR My ex left me a note that I found 4 months later since he left, and I’m emotional. I don’t know if I should messaged him.

My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse.
