Should I worry about Instagram likes?

I’ve had a really close friend for 10 years. We’ve told each other everything and talk about everything, and we always had some romantic tension but never got around to actually dating. Recently, he expressed to me he would like to explore a relationship with me and we agreed we would just take it slow, and see where things go on their natural phase.

Now, this guy is always liking pictures of Instagram models and I find it so weird. He never comments or anything, and I have brought it up to him in the past when we were just friends and he told me it doesn’t really mean anything to him, it’s just a “fantasy thing.” I know some people have different IG like tendencies, for example, I barely like pictures but there’s people who like all the pictures on their timeline.

I never really worried or cared until now because well now we’re exploring the relationship area. What we have is amazing and all he does is talk about me to his family and friends, but I don’t know why these Instagram likes are still in the back of my head. He’s told me that he doesn’t even care about social media that he would delete Instagram to prove to me it doesn’t mean anything, and he’s even showed me his phone even when I don’t really ask him for any proof of anything. We aren’t in a relationship yet, so I can’t really expect him to stop liking pictures or anything and I’m never going to make him delete his IG. I feel like I’m being ridiculous. To his credit, he has cut down on the liking recently, but I can’t help but feel I’m making an internal big deal over nothing? Should I worry or am I being silly?

My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse.
