How to approach a possible single parent in public

So I just got out of watching Aladdin and there was what appeared to be (no ring on any hand) single mother of a daughter and they were having a date night. The daughter was dressed up in a princess dress and looked to be having a great time! The daughter got scared a couple of times during the movie and saw the mother soothe her well and I also noticed how caring she was to her.

Anyhow, I wanted to start a conversation when the credits rolled but I honestly didn't know what to say or if I should even say anything. From what I could tell the mother was cute, but I just sat there mulling things in my head and she got up with her daughter and left.

I'm kind of kicking myself for not saying anything at all, but wanted to get some advice for some ice breakers that I could say? I've never dated a single mother so this is totally out of my comfort zone. Should I have complimented the daughter on her dress? Should I not say anything about the daughter cause that comes off a bit weird to me?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Apparently people have interesting assumptions that's unrelated to the question, but for clarity sake: I was with friends watching it. I wasn't just watching them 🀦‍♂️ but if you have people around you while watching movies who talk, you get your attention drawn to them. The girl was pretty vocal about the scary scenes which makes sense; since she's a child. Ya'll are deviating from the ask of how to start a conversation with a single parent when they're with their child. And... I'm pretty sure if you say, "why would you get your attention taken from a movie from someone talking?" You're probably that person that talks in a movie πŸ™„
