How to forget someone I've never met!?

A couple of months ago, I (31m) was at the mall and saw this stunning girl that was in the same shop with me. She was with her family, and so was I, so I did not approach her, but I remember thinking how beautiful she was, and just could not keep my eyes of her!

Two days later she appears on my "people you may know" facebook section, with 2 common friends, so I add her and ask her if she was the girl from the mall. She said "yes", so we start joking and talking about this. We chatted some more, in the days that followed, so I ask her out and she accepts. She even gave me her number, but when the day comes, and I text her for confirmation she says (out of the blue) that she just got out of a long relationship, and although "it's just an innocent date" (her words) she is not ready to see me. I told her it's ok, that I understand her decision but that I'm really sorry I will not see her, and in case she changes her mind, the invitation is still open. I also told her that I enjoyed talking to her, so maybe we can still do that. I got no answer, not even a yes or a no, nothing

So this sent me in a state where I could not stop thinking about her, hoping she'll contact me (she never did) back, but after almost 2 months I was kind of over her ( I also had a post about her on this thread, back then, all my friends told me to not contact her again, also everyone here told me to forget her).

10 days ago I got a facebook notification about her birthday so I texted her but she replied so late that I only saw her text the next day (only a "thank you") . After a couple of days, I've sent her a nice romantic text ( I know, a BIG mistake, but I just couldn't help it), just hoping to chat with her a little bit. Of course, she never answered , and that sent me back in a state of depression and non stop thinking about her. I know it sounds stupid, and guys my age should be more mature, and believe me, I never thought this would happen to me!

Now, don't get me wrong, I had my fair share of long and short term relationships, but I haven't felt like this since 7th grade, when I was madly in love with one of my classmates, but even then, she was not a complete stranger like this girl is. I have been single for a long time now (around 5-6 years, I've been on dates during this time, but nothing serious), looking to settle down and maybe start a family with the right person.I keep seeing her on-line, posting on social media, hoping she'll write me back.

I know this sounds pathetic and lame, especially for someone my age but it's true. I guess my question is what do I do now? How do I get over someone you've never actually met?

TLDR: saw this girl at the mall, asked her out. She said yes, but then changed her mind, now she won't answer my texts, but I can't stop thinking about her. What should I do?
