Am I [25F] being the pretentious one or is he [27M]
I’m back again. I had a post before about guys not being able to hold conversations. Well as luck would have it I found a guy that actually likes to engage in conversations! Here’s now the current problem: he’s a bit too hipster.
Now is this a pretentious reason to lose interest in someone? Let me clarify a couple things. We have gone on multiple dates, and almost every single date I feel as though I get lectured about some really off the cuff subjects that do not relate to me at all. It always goes over my head. Now I’m not about being mainstream and I totally understand that people have different interests and are into unique things but man this guy can put me to sleep when he talks about 50s/60s soul music and the amount of old school records he keeps. It’s gotten to the point I just feel like I’m a “normie” and my mainstream interests are of little importance to him. There have been countless times I’m trying to tell him a story which he just chooses to ignore and then bring up some other thing I’ve never even heard about. It makes me feel dumb and it prevents me from opening up, and it’s preventing me to real form a good emotional connection with him. The biggest catch to all of this is that he’s such a sweet dude, I can totally tell his heart is in the right place but overall I feel as though our lifestyles are different. Is it wrong for me to end things because of his hipster lifestyle? How do I even try to explain to him why I no longer want to pursue this?
