Why do some women ghost instead of saying no?

I know it's because they lost interest, but why not just be polite and say "Thanks, buit no thanks", especially if you were friendly and in no way toxic towards her?

For the last 3 months I've spoken to this girl, and we had planned dates but there was always something coming in the way (for both, so it's not like she was just stringing me along).

Now, I admit that I was maybe a bit too friendly, rather than hitting on her, but I was still happy, curious and added a lot to the conversation.

I get it, she lost interest, but still even by her just simply ghosting me instead of just saying something like "You seem nice, but I lost interest" (maybe nicer words), I feel absolutely shattered.

I always try to act as kind and respectful as I can to all people, treating them with respect, but for some reason some women don't seem to feel the need to recuperate that with a simple "Thanks, but no thanks", and just start ignoring. Why? Why is it hard to just do the decent thing and just say "Hey, this has taken too long so I lost interest, but I wish you the best!"?

We never had any bad vibes or disagreements, so I don't understand this at all :/
