Awkward silences on dates- common/normal? or a bad sign?
I went on a date yesterday with a guy from Tinder. We were both 18 and had a lot in common and I liked him a lot. But I felt relatively anxious I think, since I have social anxiety. Like I’d sometimes try to avoid eye contact, and I think he’d sometimes do that too. I’d start looking at the table or my food or the ground lol, even though I wanted to look at him.
The worst parts were the awkward silences which there were a few of. I’d run out of things to say and he’d just go on his phone. I don’t know if this was a matter of us not “clicking” or just me be an anxious piece of shit.
At the end of the date he said he’d love to see me again which is a good sign but he hasn’t texted me yet. I just feel like it was so awkward at times but I think it would get better with more dates? What do you guys think?
