how do I get dates when I never get dates?? (rant)

I've been on 2 dates in the past 4 years. At least one of those was a pity date (on their part, I was complaining about never getting dates and someone offered me a date) I'm not a big going-out person, I'm a homebody, so I try online dating mostly. I very rarely get matches, and when I do the conversation seems to be very short-lived. In the instances the conversations are going well, the account gets deleted. You have no idea how often I've logged on only to find "this account no longer exists" in place of a profile. One time I sent 50 messages over the course of 2 months asking people out. One person replied and they said no. Last year I had three dates cancel on me all in the same month. A few months ago I met someone through a mutual friend. After talking online we were finally able to meet in person. I had so much in common with them, we had great conversation, I was so excited, but they seemed to disappear. I asked our friend if they knew what was up and I learn this person is dating someone else. Someone who is almost my ideal person was not interested in me, wtf is left to do?? I just want some dating experience. I want to try, I want to meet people, I'm so done with this.
