Meeting someone online who refuses to contribute to a conversation.

Has anyone ever met a girl on a dating site (Specifically POF, OkCupid) who writes a decent bit of detail of her page, and you in turn write a well thought out message highlighting points about her page you liked, only to get a half hearted response? You continue to try and break through her wall and get her to open up, however, 3 or 4 messages in you have blown through every bit of conversation you had in your arsenal, only to have the conversation burn out. From my past experiences I've simply moved on, however the crutch of dealing with introverts who refuse to exchange conversation, even though they are putting themselves in a social environment, can be very frustrating. Ironically, this also applies to attempting to meet people at bars.

I wouldn't call this entirely just seeking advice, so much as also ranting at how society has put up walls making it impossible to make friends, build relationships, ect.

All of my friends live in different states. Where I live now, I've been here for a little over a year and I just feel it disturbing how people refuse to open up to others.
