Dating with a disability when to bring it up?
Ok all so I’m 4 ft 9 inches which has always made me feel like it was hard to date being short. I also have another hurdle besides being short. For a brief back story, I was born a 1 lb 4 oz premature baby with a 20% chance of living. The prematurity caused cerebral palsy that is very mild. I do walk with a slight limp and it has always made me self conscious. I had surgery to correct my tight muscles on my left leg last year. Unfortunately my condition is still noticeable as I have not had my right done yet.
I stopped putting my condition in my profile but always mention it prior to meeting to be up front and honest with people. The common questions I get are can I get it or is it hereditary? It is not and I don’t blame someone for inquiring.
My question is when is a good time when dating to discuss it? Should I let my date ask questions? I want someone to love me for who I am and not my disability as I have met quite a few guys who are focused on that. I’m an open book as far as my condition but at the same time, I don’t want to be a pity feel sorry for me date. I don’t really consider myself disabled and am hoping there are people out there that will accept my imperfection.
