Best way to ease into anal?

So I've never done anal before but I'm up for trying it. I'm wondering the best way to ease into it. I'm quite petite so slightly worried about it being more painful than enjoyable. Obviously I know to use lube but is there anything else that is a good way to ease into it like toys and positions etc? Also should the guy wear a condom, can just imagine it may be messy :/ Any advice and information is appreciated thanks

My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse.
