Is it a bad idea to call someone after their first day of work to ask how it went, even though you still haven’t gone on a date?

Met a beautiful woman and we’ve got to hangout because of some freelance work and we’ve kept in touch by texting and calling. Bailed on our first date because she had a crazy day and was lazy by the time she got home (luckily I was also insanely busy so it helped me finish my work on time). But it sort of dropped off after that. Last we spoke was three days ago when I asked her out again and she was going out of town that weekend for a wedding. She’s back and started a new job today. I was wondering if it was a rookie mistake to give her a call tonight to ask how it went. Is that too desperate?

Advice please!
