Fooling around causes trouble breathing and angry butterflies-in-the-stomach sensation

Recently, I have started seeing someone new. When things start to get really hot and heavy, I feel a sensation in my stomach and chest that I can only describe as angry "butterflies," like the butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling but somewhat painful. The few times we have fooled around, I have had to stop to catch my breath and let the sensation subside. We haven't slept together yet. I'm 28(F) and have not experienced this with any previous partners. Is it just nerves? Has anyone else experienced this same response? If so, how have you handled it? Any ideas or suggestions welcome, thanks!
