Is getting a girlfriend really not the solution to your loneliness?

Why do people say this? Like if it's true, what makes this true? Like why doesn't having a girlfriend truly alleviate your loneliness? And why doesn't it make you happy better yet? I've seen people saying you got to be happy first before you get into relationship.

Also, if other people say the reason they have a girlfriend is to make them happy while others contradict this statement, then what is the reason to get a girlfriend? Why should you have another individual in your everyday life if it makes your loneliness worse? I mean aren't most relationships gonna fail? It's not like you date that girl and then you end up marrying. I've seen people break up with GF even after 5 good years.
