Do you have to include “does anybody object?”

The woman at the town hall says it must be said to perform a “full” ceremony. I live in NY and the past three weddings I’ve been to I don’t remember hearing he question asked. I can’t find an easy answer if it need to be said to make it official, but some people online have said that it is legally required in some states?
