Would you go out with this dude again?

Went out with a guy from OLD, we happen to live about a block from each other so we met on the corner and walked to an area with bars and restaurants. I could immediately tell he was super nervous, like talking about how he changed three times and how his hair is usually shorter, etc. I’m a really easy person to go on a first date with so I knew it would be fine and we had a fun evening. Then he kind of guided us back to his place – which didn’t seem too sketch because we have mutual friends and mutual former co-workers. Plus home hangs are just more my vibe, hooking up didn’t cross my mind which admittedly is naive. We hung out and he drank a lot – I don’t know if that’s what he does or if it was still nerves? I don’t know, but he proceeds to tell me that he was thinking I was going to sleep with him! Clearly realizing that was not going to happen. Then I left, he didn’t walk me home which I thought was kind of weird too. I figured he just didn’t get what he wanted and I was getting the brush off. However, the next morning I heard from him and he seems to be still interested.

My friend told me that I better not even entertain the idea of going out with him again, BUT, I swear every guy I’ve dated has told me later on in our relationship what he thought his “first date odds” were – so, was he just being inappropriately honest? This is the first 30+ guy I’ve met who hasn’t been over the top thirsty, which is refreshing. Although he’s only 31, so perhaps he’s still in a “playing the field” mindset which explains the lack of thirst.

  1. Does this sound like he’s just not that into me but wants me around in case I do put out or…?
  2. Does this guy sound like a complete douche? (my friend’s opinion)

Thanks, DOT!
