Blending your family?

This is my first post ever on Reddit so be please be gentle with me lol.

I (40m) was married 16 years, and single now for just over a year. Met a great woman within a month of the split but of course I was in no shape to have a serious relationship. Over the course of the year we stayed friends (pretty much fwb). We hit it off in so many ways and we've just recently decided to make things serious.

The relationship has been great, our kids quite like each other. We both have 2, all between the ages of 5 and 10. But now that we're serious, thoughts eventually go to the blending of the families. I have to admit, the thought is absolutely terrifying to me. Their mom shacked up almost immediately and he has a son. But the thought of doing that even when I think of a few years from now, just doesnt seem right to me.

Am I wrong to think that blending a family might never feel right to me? The logistics alone aren't insurmountable, though difficult. Are these thoughts more due to the relatively short time since my marriage fell apart? Anyone else deal with the same issues that came to a good resolution?
