Birth Control & Lube?

So my (25m) gf (25f) and I have been together for a few years. She has been on a birth control shot our entire relationship(years). The past few months she has had a need for lube during sex(a lot of lube). I have an average or above average dick so I’m not huge but in prior relationships I’ve always given girls vaginal orgasms. In the beginning of this relationship during sex my gf consistently came without a vibrator. Now it is always a vibrator and she claims that just having sex(even missionary) hurts and has to use A LOT of lube. Honestly it’s annoying and boring but I want to know if it’s normal. Even with plenty of foreplay she still goes directly to lube.

If it hurts ok, I’m sorry, I obviously don’t want it to. But why now? If we need to address the birth control let’s do that. If you simply aren’t attracted to me we should address that too(I am pretty sure that’s not it)! My girlfriend is insecure and going through a rough patch right now so I don’t want to come directly to her and say “you’ve been dry lately wtf” I am just looking for some insight in if it might be birth control related and even if pain is relatively normal.
