Being haunted by ghosts all week... and it turns out that’s ok

I don’t know if I should laugh or cry but this week has been a trip. Two have texted, one called, all people I cared about, were sleeping with for months and who disappeared without a trace over the last couple of years.

And you know how this made me feel? Grateful. Because I dodged some serious bullets here. I was so pained by all these jerks because the ghosting alone didn’t make me think they were jerks, I thought it was me. Hearing from them again gave them a chance to show me the other jerky sides of their personality I never experienced while dating. The one who called was so drunk he really let some things fly out of his mouth I didn’t expect (I only answered thinking it was someone else).... the two who texted, one was very short the other very lengthy but equally horrible.

Seriously, I’m re thinking everything about ghosting now. I’m pretty sure it’s really crap people just weeding themselves out of my life! Three cheers to ghosters, I’m so glad they didn’t let me get more invested.

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
