Girl who I really liked before went cold on me. After huge amounts of life inprovment she's coming back around... does she want me or other things?

So before December of 2018. I was pretty good friends with a girl, we'll call her patty. I'm 99% sure she liked me when we first first met but I was too shy and other factors. Shes a very patient person but I eventually told I really liked her but she rejected. But we were still really good friends. Eventually, she went cold on me. Never initiated communication with me. I always I had to reach out, whether it was in text or in person. I gained weight. And just became a weird person. Not because of her, but because I felt lost in life; I was finishing college and had no idea what I was going to do after. And I've ALWAYS lacked confidence in my actions and myself. So, I did the smart thing and joined the Marine Corps. Up until I left for boot camp she was still cold with me but still kind of friendly. The day I left we hugged goodbye and I was off to Parris Island. 3 months later. I'm down 40 lbs... 70 lbs total. From 235 to to 164 lbs. Got a wicked tan.l, even thought I'm naturally tan. I developed confidence in my self and my self image for the first time in my life. And people noticed. Even her family noticed it. So now, shes chasing after me. When I was home on boot leave, she'd always text me first saying she was bored and wanted to hang out. I didn't drive at all and she knew it and was always offering me rides. She always took me to her house first though. Then mine. She also told me that her and I were going to adopt a dog . After that week, I went to Marine Combat training. So I couldn't talk to her for like a month. When I finally got my phone back, she told me she had plans to come see me at my mos school. She also made jokes about coming to live with me, which I entwrtained. Maybe I shouldn't have. It was weird in a funny way to me. I told my buddies and they tell me shes just trying to be a gold digger. That she wants my benefits as a Marine and not me. I like to think she likes me for obvious reasons but at the same time it worries me that what my fellow marines say might be true. What do you think?
