My (25F) boyfriend (25M) lied to me about his past relationship

So I have been dating this wonderful man since about March this year. Our relationship has been the best I have ever experienced. We get along great, have similar interests/goals, and talk about a future together a lot. The only issue is that I have this nagging (almost confirmed) suspicion that he has not been honest with me about his last relationship. I got a little wary when I saw a post of them together in late 2018 and asked him about it (I actually asked him twice since he did not really elaborate the first time I brought the subject up). He told me that they dated in 2017 for 10 months and broke up in early 2018 (leaving about a year in between our relationship and this one). Recently though I took a look at his facebook profile and noticed the ex's mom had posted on his profile for his birthday in 2018 (he doesnt post anything on fb so there isnt much scrolling to do, it's just there).

Again I got a little suspicious and did some detective work and found out that they both volunteered for the same organization 2018, instead of 2017 like he had told me. I know they dated while volunteering at this place, as he has told me multiple times, and now I'm a little suspicious again that he isnt telling me the whole truth.

I would like to say that the time in between the relationships doesnt bother me, it's simply that I have confronted him twice about this subject and he has lied to me both times. I just don't know what to do anymore. If I ask again, how can I trust what he tells me? I really just cannot think of why he would not tell me the truth when I straight up asked him.

Tl;dr boyfriend said he dated his ex in 2017. Found a picture of them together in 2018 and confronted him about it and he said it was only for an event. Now I have found out more info that makes me think they did date in 2018 and he has not been telling me the truth.
