Got rejected but i still feel there is something

Hello, so there is this girl and we have been talking for around 3 months and she is my friends sister. Im new to the place so people dont know me well yet and i started liking her after a month of being friends with her, i asked her out a week ago, she rejected me but i saw she was hesitant. I was reading body language but it really seemed like she wanted something more with me too. Perhaps i didnt talk to her enough or didnt give her enough space? Forgot to mention she has never been in a relationship before so is there a possibility its something else? I've read its because of something social or about her brother not letting her date other guys, even tho he helped me to ask her out etc. I'm not totally sure what is it but anyways just wanted to say i still feel way too attracted to her and im planning on somehow dating her, i just dont know how yet. I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
