I [M21] have been in a relationship with my gf [F21] for over a year now and I been having thoughts of another girl

I’ve been with my gf for 1 year and 4 months now and we have had our ups and downs as does every relationship. I have had thoughts of other women before in our relationship but it was only in the first couple weeks or so. I have fallen in love with my gf and I care for her deeply. But I met this one girl in class and I can’t stop thinking of her.

I am a senior in college now and I am taking an elective class and I saw this one girl a week ago and she has been on my mind ever since. I’ve seen her now three times and every time I find myself staring at her (Ik it’s creepy) and I can’t help myself. I feel so many feelings for her and I haven’t even talked to her yet. All we have done is glanced at each other sometimes and that’s it.

I feel terrible I feel like I am cheating every time I think of her. I just don’t know what to do about this situation if I should do anything at all. My gf and I just went through a really bad fight that almost cause us to break up and maybe I just have feelings for her to fill those needs I have with my gf. I hope this is just like a phase or something and my feelings just go away for her but idk if they will. She just looks so perfect and I can already tell she has a great personality. I try to stop thinking of her but I just can’t stop.

What I’m trying to ask is what should I do if anything. It would really help to get some advice from someone who has been through a situation like this or somewhat like it. Any advice would be nice at this point.

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
