How could ex-girlfriend (F,22) replace me (M,25) within a week of a break up?

Hey guys. Would appreciate some thoughts on something which has consumed me for the past week.

Ex and I broke up in July. She’s moving to Africa this week after having graduated from university and it simply would not have worked. We were together 1.5 years and she told me she loved me. She also told me she wished we weren’t breaking up, but we both knew we had to. I still am (and she was) in the UK.

The week after we broke up she went to a 4-day festival in Sweden with a girlfriend. There, she met some guy. I noticed through social media they started following each other on all platforms immediately. Full suite: she even added him on Spotify. After this 4-day trip she came back to the UK where she would stay until the end of August.

At the start of this month, she posted instagram stories with this guy in them. Also posted a photo. Clearly, they kept in touch from afar for 6 weeks and she flew all the way to Sweden to visit him for a couple of days. She did not post it to make me jealous, I think, as I no longer follow her (but a friend told me). But it is obvious she visited him to hook up and spend a few days together.

She is still moving this week so it’s not as if this relationship is going to last. However, I am shocked at a) how quickly she jumped in with some other guy, who she met a week after we split and b) how quickly it escalated. All the steps it took us months to reach (travelling together, posting photos on social media, etc) she did within weeks and they hardly know each other at all! It’s like I was replaced immediately by someone else.

What do you guys think? We’re obviously not getting back together. But I can’t help feeling that she has moved on from me so quickly and, consequently, that I meant very little to her at all. How can someone do this so quickly? With me thinking of her so much still, it is sad to think she does not. It is really heartbreaking.
