21M virgin and I don’t make any progress

I’ve been watching personal development videos for a year or two, reading a few books and spend a few months on subreddits like r/confidence, r/socialanxiety and r/getdisciplined in order to improve overall.

But I never actually made any progress. I still don’t have any good close friends, only people I talk to at university. I study computer science so not a lot of girls and I don’t know how to approach people and make friends anyways.

I never went to parties or bars or whatever. Only a few times to movies. That’s my social life in a nutshell...

I’ve only dated a girl once : It was two years ago. I was very lucky. I dm’d her on a forum and asked her if she wanted to meet, and she said yes because she needed somebody to talk to as she had broken up with her boyfriend two months earlier. We had a lot in common, both introverts, same interests. She even told me I was nice physically and I had a great personality. But I’m average and obviously something’s wrong with me, I think she just wanted to be nice. I asked her if she wanted to be my gf (yes I asked that, I’m sorry idk how intimate relationships and dating works I wasn’t fortunate enough to go through this during my teenage years), she said yes, but 20 seconds later she changed her mind telling me she planned to move idk where and wouldn’t like a long distance relationship. It obviously was just an excuse.

I’m average looking and my face is a bit assymetrical so I’m not attractive enough to get any matches on dating apps.

I’ve read some posts of people approaching girls in the streets but it didn’t work for most of them. I don’t think it will ever work for me.

So here I am, tired of not knowing what to do. It’s the first time I feel done with this and I kinda want to quit and never think about it, about trying to do something. But I’m not a quitter and I know I will keep thinking about it.

What would you do if you were in my place?
