The Love and Light Spectrum

Been doing some writing lately, and this particular topic was brought on because a student pointed out that I “throw the word love out often.” It made me really step back. I thought why is that? Does it cheapen it’s meaning for me to use it so often? How can it mean different things when I use it? So this is me trying to decipher what Love is to me

Love Light Spectrum

Radio Love- love for yourself, it’s the first on the list, but the lowest in wave length. It can be sent out, but it doesn’t mean it will reach you. I like to think it’s connected to sound. That’s why you can feel music on such a deep level, and that’s why words and sounds of negative people affect how you feel about yourself.

Microlove- Short, temperamental love. Passing and heated. Much like the relationships you have growing up while you are still learning how to navigate the waters of romance. Strong when you feel it, but it’s value doesn’t stay. The heat might make it seem legitimate, in the end you can’t really see it.

Infrared Love-Long wave love. It’s deep, can’t be seen, but there. Family. You grow up with them, you might not really like them, but you love them. You can’t really help it. You know that down and out, you would help. Too much infrared radiation can be critical- thus why family can cause you pain and it’s ok to separate yourself from the person that causes it.

Visible Love- love you can put at a distance, love that is kind. A random compliment to see a smile, helping pay for a stranger’s tab, telling a class you love them as they walk out the door- it’s love you put out there and don’t expect to get it back. It’s what is good about humanity and is the only thing that makes the world have meaning.

Ultraviolet- Deep love for someone, and there love changes the way you see the world. Their love changes how you see yourself. Making them happy makes you happy. It’s not a chore, or sometimes it is- but it’s worth it. This is what real love is, it’s doing everything you can not to lose it. You put them first, they put you first- and you try to work through what ever life throws at you.

Xrays- Something I know all to well about in real life, but only now understand as a form of love. It’s seeing into someone and understanding who they are. To know and accept their pain. It’s feels almost like an intrusion, but the end result is healing. This doesn’t come naturally to everyone, and found more with empaths. When it comes in to your life it’s kinetic. It’s bare. But it’s real and good for you.

Gamma Rays- love that hurts. When you love so deeply that you put your own well-being aside for them. It can be a mother’s love for her children , it can be the love for your significant other who doesnt put you first, a woman being abused and not leaving, its just love that hurts. You lose yourself. You try so hard to please the other person, that you tear down what it is to be you. You are blinded by it.

I try to be a beacon, because to me it’s the only thing that matters. In darkness it can be light, in light it can be darkness. It’s the constant balance of learning how much you can give and take. I often give more of it than I receive, so when I do get it in return I value it above all else. It restores me.
