Controlling bf or is he right?
Throwaway account because he uses reddit.
This is also my(22f) first reddit post ever so I’m sorry if I do anything incorrect.
I’ve been on and off with my bf(27), who I will call Matt, for over a year now. It’s sometimes hard because it’s long distance, but we’ve made it work and it’s not too much of a problem for us. We broke up recently due to me not calling him often enough, but since then I have been steadily meeting his needs. So things now are fine, just working through it. But I’ll start by saying he’s honestly great all around. We’re compatible in many ways and overall we just enjoy each other a lot. Because of the distance, we video chat often. Last night, I was going out with my girlfriends and her bf and his friends and I called Matt before I went out and as I was getting ready. I showed him what I was wearing and he was a little taken aback. To be clear, I was wearing a body suit that is pretty low cut and some jeans. He asked if that was what I was wearing and I said yes. He said he was surprised because he didn’t think I would dress like that. I asked if it was a good thing or bad thing, and he said bad thing. I showed him what I was wearing before I put fashion-tape on, (tape that helps clothes stay in place, which I used to make my shirt less revealing). I showed him after with the tape, and he said it was better. So no big deal I’m thinking. I respect him and I would naturally be okay with changing my outfit if he wasn’t comfortable with it. Next day, I posted a video on social media with me and my friend and I was wearing the outfit. I sent it to Matt, because the video to me was funny and I felt/looked pretty in it. When he responded he was mad that I posted it, and even gave me an ultimatum to delete or don’t call him anymore. I’m honestly just really surprised. Firstly, I really just don’t appreciate trying to control what I wear. I’m young and pretty and I like to feel as such while I still can. And another thing is, we’re not even officially together!!! I don’t see how he can even give me the ultimatum when we’re not together. He says I disrespected him by posting the video because he told me twice he doesn’t like the shirt. Idk. Am I wrong? Another thing is, I distinctively remember him saying to me he wouldn’t ever control what his partner wore, because I expressed early on I would never date someone who tried to control that. So yeah. Pls help. Thank u :):
