Does getting under someone else really help get over someone after a break up?

I (24f) and my ex (31m) just broke up about three weeks ago and I suffered a miscarriage about a week after that. I still am in love with him even though he’s fallen out of love for me and is already talking and sleeping with someone else so I’m wondering if maybe he has the right idea? I think a part of me has been holding out because if I’m not any body else’s than I’m still his… I know it’s stupid which is why I’m here wondering if anyone thinks it’s helpful to get under somebody else to get over a person you loved and thought was the person you were going to marry? I’ve been trying to heal but I can’t seem to break the bond I have to him so would doing that help sever it so I don’t have to feel this anymore?
