Does my [18F] friend [18M] like me or am I just being to hopeful?

Hi! I’ve known this guy since middle school, became close friends in high school, and are now even closer at university. He’s super introverted plus he’s never had any experience with a girl, so I really can’t analyze what he says and does half the time. I really like him and have been taking the flirting up a notch, but I can’t tell if any of these are signs that he likes me or if it’s just him being sweet: -He saw my ID inside the case of my phone and snatched it out saying “how do you look so good in this picture, I look terrible in mine!” (Even though I think my picture is quite terrible too haha) -He showed up at my apartment the other day wearing a hat and I told him it looked good on him and now he’s been wearing it the last two times we hung out -We were talking about a high school friend and I said the guy was perfect (in a sense that he just checks all the boxes, not that I’m interested in him) and he was super surprised, teasing me about “having a crush” on the kid but seemed slightly upset(?) about it. It took me forever to convince him I didn’t like the kid -He constantly talks about how his roommate found a girl before him around me and brings it up even when he’s already mentioned it -When he was telling me how his roommate kicked him out of the dorm for 3+ hours while he had his gf over, he was so shocked saying how sex could last that long and I told him it’s not that uncommon and he gave me this wide-eyed look and asked if I spoke from experience. I’m pretty sure I’ve already mentioned that I’ve never had a boyfriend before and when I told him this again, he seemed sort of relieved I think -Not sure if this is a good or bad sign, but he told me he lives giving and receiving hugs but whenever I go in to hug him he sort of stiffens up. As far as I’m concerned, i don’t smell bad or anything so not sure why he does this. I don’t have much cleavage either so it’s not like that would make him uncomfortable

On one hand, I’m hoping all of these are signs that he may like me, but on the other hand, I’m starting to reconsider if I like him as a friend or not. I feel like as a boyfriend, he wouldn’t be willing to put in as much time or effort into the relationship. Even though he’s obviously seen movies and has talked to people with experience, he just seems completely clueless about all things related to relationships. I’d love to date him, I just don’t know if he’ll ever like me as much as I like him. Thank you for your advice!

tl;dr : I can’t tell if my shy, introverted friend likes me or not, and I’m not sure if he would be “boyfriend material”
