Proposal

I (20f) have been dating my boyfriend (26m) for a year, we just welcomed our son I June. We did not want to get married just because we were having a kid together.. both of our parents did it and their marriages did not work out.. Thinking about it more I wanted the same last name as my child when he started school, so I casually mentioned it... we fought about it many times.. He says he ready for our kid but not ready for marriage, but I just accepted it. We fought about something else and he brought up the engagement and how we haven't yet, I was okay with the arrangement.. he had to propose before my 22nd birthday otherwise I was proposing. He ended the argument saying, "fine, whatever, I'll get a ring".. I was fine with our arrangement and I didn't want him to propose till he was ready. I told him, "I don't want you to say that if you are just going to say it and not actually do it". He rolled his eyes and told me, "fine we'll wait then". We have a very trusting and healthy relationship (ik it doesn't sound like it but we do). But one day I was doing a job application and he was sleeping but I couldn't go from tab to tab so I grabbed his phone and there was rings.. he was looking at engagement rings... I haven't told him I saw it.. haven't told his family.. only mentioned jt to my twin sister... I'm nervous he's thinking about proposing just because I want him to and not because he wants to...
