My girlfriend (F 37) tells me all my (M 35) female exes and good friends keep asking for double dates or to meet her because "its a territory thing, they're sniffing to make sure they don't still have a chance with you & to size me up". Is this true?

My Girlfriend claims this is something women do, I admit I'm completely clueless. But several female friends and former romantic interests who are still friends immediately asked for double dates or dinner dates once they heard me gush about her. She's been happy to oblige and makes it sound like its a "marking your territory" kind of thing with 'her' man....

A part of me is intrigued by this notion, another part is off-put. Would anyone else say there's truth to this? Is she 'claiming her space' by letting them see her and me together? It feels like that dumb movie scene "if you're really in love, let's see you kiss!", but it happened multiple times now.

With some of the female friends they're like sisters to me and I legit think they were looking out for me to make sure she was treating me well, but others.... at least 2 or 3 others? It makes me wonder if she's right? Women, is this really a thing? Have I just been oblivious this entire time? Guys, have you ever experienced this?

Advice? Do I let this play out as my Girlfriend suggests is best or do I say something more overt to these exes and female friends?

TL;DR : My Girlfriend says all these exes and female friends asking for double dates with us is a 'territory' thing to make sure her and I are 'serious' or in some cases to make sure 'they don't still have a shot at me'. True? False? What do I do with this information if anything, if true?
