Should I ask my childhood crush out on a date?

Help with whether or not to ask my childhood crush out on a date.

I am 20 years old and just recently moved to a new city. I have never had a girlfriend before in my life and have never kissed nor done anything more than that. At the age of 20, I have become increasingly interested in dating and finding a girlfriend, but I have a hard time approaching this. I have, as many before me, downloaded Tinder, Bumble and so on. I have gotten a few matches, but nothing that has amounted to anything. I would not say I am desperate, but there is this one girl that I can't get out of my mind. She was the first girl I crushed on when I was about 10. She lives in the city, I have just moved from, but I really want to contact her and ask her on a date. Even though she has never showed any signs of liking me and in many ways it seems quite stupid to try and start dating a person that lives 3-4 hours from me. Also I know her best friend has had feelings for me, so I feel everything about this is so awkward. Even if I decided to contact her, I don't know how to go about it.

So I have turned to reddit, for some advice on whether or not to contact my childhood crush or just forget about her and try to date in my new city?

From a slightly awkward guy that don't know what to do.
