Pros/cons of asking someone to hang out via Facebook message ?

So there is a guy(25M) in my (24F) program who I think is cute/interesting. We haven’t really hung out one on one ever and I don’t have his phone number. We are Facebook friends though, and I was thinking of asking him what he’s doing tonight, to see if he wants to hang out. I don’t want to come on too strong or make things weird in the future if he’s not interested. For whatever reason I get really nervous about people knowing that I like them, so I try to play cool and I wonder if I play it too cool sometimes? He’s new to town, so I don’t know if he has a lot of friends or things to do on the weekend besides study. Facebook just seems like a silly platform to initiate conversation with to me.

My (27f) gf (27f) is getting tired of me not sharing intimate/ personal info about me

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
