how often will a guy read into a girl's actions as "rejection" and act on it?

i'm asking this because this happened to me. and i lost out on a potential relationship due to a misunderstanding.

I went out with a guy i really really liked. we made out. then i had to go. i had to catch the train. I smiled the whole way home. i was so excited about the possibility of where this could go. it had been a while since i really liked someone. My ex boyfriend cheated on me. but i was feeling butterflies again. the thing is i am very shy, and socially awkward. apparently he interpretted the way i left abruptly as me running out on him and ditching him and showing i wasn't interested

the next day he told me he liked someone else. i was devastated. i didnt really quesion him because his text was very clear and unambiguous. i took it as a rejection. i took it as him telling me he was not interested.

i found out later that he did this because he thought i rejected him. i feel this is all my fault. How often would a guy interpret a girl leaving abruptly and automatically assume she was not interested? has this ever happened to you? I'm so mad at myself.

My (27f) gf (27f) is getting tired of me not sharing intimate/ personal info about me

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
