s/o doesn't like kissing / how to initiate sex w/o kissing (?)

background: he's the only person i've ever kissed and he's had several relationships before me. he's only comfortable with doing closed mouth pecks on my lips, like how you kiss a cat's forehead. i've talked with him about it and we've kissed with less closed-mouthed, but he says it grosses him out, like the wetness. he says it's not me, he just doesn't like kissing. i really liked it though and feel bad he doesn't want to do more than chicken pecks.

anyway how do people even build up to sex without kissing? my idea was that it sort of starts with kissing and becomes more than that somehow, idk. i've read a lot of tips and advice for having sex but i'm completely clueless for the build up to it, like the physical mechanics, especially with someone who doesn't want to be kissed.
