Every time is like the first time...but not the way you think...

So I am currently in a relationship of 2 years. I met my boyfriend in highschool and now he is in the military stationed out west, therefore he only comes back about twice a year. He is the only person I have ever had sex with and I plan to keep it that way, and he does too. He regularly gets blood drawn and gets checked for STDs and we have already had certain "discussions" so I don't worry in the slightest about infidelity. Just a backstory to help you all understand...

Now, to my question. Since we don't see each other often, when we finally do have sex, it hurts like the first time we had sex. It's just a pinch when he first puts it in, and I'm good for the entire session, but after I have climaxed, the constant friction of him thrusting for about 5 more minutes until he cums irritates my vagina. The next day I will wake up sore with microtears. Mind you, he came back for 2 weeks during my Christmas break, and i saw him about every two days. Each day we say each other, we had sex, and EVERY TIME we did, it hurt me just as much as it did before.

So what's the deal? Is he a big too big for me? Should I take breaks and consider having less sex so I can heal? Or will it just take a while to get used to how large he is? Or do I have a small vagina? Or is it because we don't see each other consistently enough for me to adjust? I dont necessarily want to try lube, I can "make" enough on my own lol, but I just get irritated after I have finished. I'm starting to think this is normal. Has any other girl experienced this? Maybe I am being redundant and I do just need lube, but I want to figure out the real case here. There could be many causes and I need help getting to the bottom of it. Thanks.
