Gave a family heirloom to an ex, and I regret it

Ok, so I'm incredibly stupid. Feel free everyone to tell me I'm an idiot. I (42 F) dated a guy for only 4 months. He lost something that belonged to his late father (a game boatd) that was very important to him. We broke up a month ago, but this week, for Father's Day, I mailed him a game board (the same one that he lost) that my grandfather had made himself out of wood. I don't know what I was thinking, other than the fact that I am insane. He texted a thank you, but that was it. I regretted sending it an hour after dropping it off at the Post Office.

I want to point out that this guy has a 100 red flags that I won't go into - namely he has a harem of women and treated me like I am insignificant. But seriously, I want my heirloom back. Any ideas how to ask for it back without sounding like an asshole?
