It comes from the fact that we've made straight the default setting. That, if you did experience sexual attraction you'd inherently be straight. Especially if you're also aromantic as well. Because you're celibate (Not all aces are, of course, but straight people seem to assume so), you can "pass" as a straight person who isn't in a relationship or just is a prude.
